In Chechnya, a lieutenant shot four colleagues. Ukrainian soldiers shot four colleagues in the Donetsk region

An officer of the 46th operational brigade of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops in Chechnya (his name has not yet been reported) opened fire on his colleagues. He reported this on Monday with reference to his sources in the department. According to the agency, a senior lieutenant of the Russian Guard broke into the barracks of one of the brigade units stationed in the village of Shelkovskaya. There he opened fire from a firearm at the people inside. As a result, four “guardsmen” were injured, from which they soon died. After this, the attacker entered into a shootout with the internal guard servicemen and was killed. The incident occurred on Monday morning, but it became widely known only in the evening.

Later, the press service of the National Guard admitted the fact of an emergency.

They noted that at the moment, a group of officers consisting of military and security service officers, personnel specialist officers and military psychologists flew from the central office of the Russian Guard to the unit where the tragedy took place.

The commission must find out all the circumstances and reasons for what happened. So far, nothing has been reported about what exactly prompted the Russian Guard employee to shoot his comrades. The incident, as reported by news agencies, was immediately reported to the military prosecutor's office and the military investigation department. An internal audit is now underway. They promise to report further on the reasons for the incident.

The 46th Order of Zhukov separate operational brigade is the largest formation of the former National Guard Troops. It was formed during the second Chechen campaign on November 1, 2000 on the basis of one of the battalions of the 101st Special Operational Brigade of Internal Troops in order to maintain constitutional order in the Chechen Republic and combat illegal armed groups. The 101st brigade, in turn, was one of the main units of federal forces during the first campaign - it was formed after the tragic assault on Grozny in January 1995. In August 1996, it was its soldiers who bore the brunt of a surprise attack by militants on Grozny. For a long time, the 46th Brigade was subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and only in 2016 it became part of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

The 46th Brigade is unique in its essence. This is a unit of many thousands, whose personnel is larger than many divisions of the National Guard.

Units of the brigade control the entire territory of Chechnya and are able to act independently. They are stationed in the city of Grozny (near the Severny airport), the villages of Naurskaya, Shelkovskaya, Chervlennaya, the cities of Gudermes, Urus-Martan, Vedeno and others. The brigade also includes “ethnic” military units, that is, staffed on a national basis - exclusively by Chechens (battalions “North” and “South”). It was in the “North” that he served, convicted of murdering a politician.

However, most of the units of the 46th brigade are still staffed by natives not of the Chechen Republic, but of other regions. During the period of performing service and combat missions, more than 600 servicemen of the brigade were awarded state awards. The brigade is staffed with both conscripts and contract soldiers.

Conflicts in military units located in Chechnya occur with certain regularity. Thus, in February 2016, a mass brawl occurred in military unit 16544, which is located near the Borzoi settlement. According to some sources, the brawl occurred after military personnel from an intelligence unit who arrived at the unit beat up a Chechen conscript who was trying to jump the line to get a portion in the canteen. According to other sources, the conflict occurred between intelligence officers (the team there is mixed, there are both Chechens and Russians) and motorized riflemen (mostly Siberians there) from different units, and in total, supposedly, about 30 people were injured in the fight.

A video of these events later went viral on the Internet and attracted media attention. The situation was eventually resolved by the head of Chechnya, saying that the conflict occurred “because of a woman cook.”

Corporal Hasan Abdulkhadov. During firing practice, he opened fire on soldiers who were standing at the entrance to the firing line. As a result, three people were killed and two were injured. After this, the corporal took the machine gun with ammunition and fled the scene. He died during arrest.

“Kommersant” became aware of the details of the investigation of the tragic incident in the Russian Guard unit located in Chechnya, where on Monday senior lieutenant Marat Gadzhiev shot four colleagues. Then the shooter himself was killed. Roman Kurdyukov, the commander of the unit where the incident occurred, as well as several other officers, were temporarily suspended from their positions. To conduct an internal check, they were taken to the headquarters of the North Caucasus Military District of the Russian Guard in Rostov-on-Don. At the same time, it is possible that Kurdyukov’s commander may also be held criminally liable for negligence.

Immediately after the incident, an investigation group was created in the part of the Russian Guard located in the Shelkovsky district, consisting mainly of employees of the military investigation department of the Investigative Committee for the Southern Military District. A criminal case has been opened into the murder of four servicemen (clause “a”, part 2, article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Meanwhile, as a source close to the investigation told Kommersant, unit commander Roman Kurdyukov and several of his subordinates were temporarily removed from their positions and taken by special transport to the headquarters of the military district (the Russian Guard has its own internal districts) in Rostov-on-Don, where they will be interrogated as part of an internal investigation.

Let us remind you that the mass execution of military personnel occurred on Monday in military unit 6791 (Shelkovskaya village, Chechen Republic) - the 46th separate operational brigade of the Russian Guard. According to the military investigation, upon learning of his upcoming dismissal, senior lieutenant Marat Gadzhiev, commander of the 2nd engineer platoon, took a machine gun with magazines from the weapons room and decided to deal with the unit commander, Roman Kurdyukov. The first victim of the senior lieutenant was the company commander, Captain Ilya Banykin. Then three more servicemen were shot dead - senior sergeant of the contract service Arsen Baygaziev, senior sergeant Ilyas Garachiev and sergeant Khairutdin Agamagomedov. As a result, Senior Lieutenant Gadzhiev himself was killed.

So far, there is no complete clarity as to why Senior Lieutenant Gadzhiev was going to deal with the unit commander. The first version is rude treatment by commander Roman Kurdyukov, who, as the servicemen say, not only severely punished his subordinates for the slightest offense, but “always did it in a humiliating manner, threatening with dismissal.” In turn, the director of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, said that senior lieutenant Gadzhiev shot his colleagues because of his problems with his wife. “His (Gadzhiev.- “Kommersant”) the wife was simply removed from the unit. This caused an emotional outburst, he was already irritated,” said Mr. Zolotov. He added that the tragedy occurred due to the shortcomings of the district commander, assuring that “the Russian Guard is monitoring the investigation of this case.”

At the moment, no one has been arrested as part of the criminal case regarding the incident in military unit 6791. However, according to a Kommersant source close to the investigation, it is possible that the commander of the unit, against whom an internal audit is being carried out, may in the future be brought to criminal liability.

“For now, we can definitely say that Kurdyukov will be dismissed from military service, and without the right of reinstatement,” Kommersant’s interlocutor said. “But it may happen that he will be imprisoned. This will happen if the investigator comes to the conclusion that there is a connection between the death of the military personnel and the actions of the commander.”

In this case, unit commander Kurdyukov may be charged under Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence associated with improper performance of duties by an official), which provides for imprisonment of up to five years.

“After that, Gadzhiev went to the parade ground, there was a divorce going on. He opened fire indiscriminately, killing the driver, Sergeant Khairutdin Agamagomedov. The unit duty officer gave the command “For battle.” Gadzhiev was wounded. When they approached him to make sure [whether he was dead or not], he was still alive and tried to shoot. Then they finished him off,” said RBC’s interlocutor in the Russian Guard and confirmed a second source in the service. According to their information, fire was opened on Gadzhiev at 16:47.

Earlier, the Kommersant newspaper reported that the Russian Guard employee who opened fire on his colleagues was dissatisfied with his dismissal and wanted to sort things out with the officer who filed the corresponding notice. Before meeting with his offender, the senior lieutenant drank, the newspaper noted.
