Black tea is the most consumed drink in Europe, while in its homeland it is second in popularity to green tea. It owes its characteristic leaf color to the full fermentation cycle, which lasts up to a month. High-quality tea has an orange infusion, which is why in China it is classified as red tea. Due to the fact that its taste is devoid of astringency, it is more loyal to various additives, combining well with bergamot, jasmine, ginger, cinnamon and various fruit fillings. Flavored black tea occupies a large share of the assortment, but, unfortunately, its raw materials are often saturated with artificial flavors.

Story

After harvesting, tea goes through several technological processes: withering, rolling, oxidation (fermentation) and drying. The first two stages, when the tea leaf is partially dehydrated and then releases enzyme-rich juice, black and green tea go through together. Then their roads diverge. Oxidation is the culminating process in tea production. Oxygen and enzymes significantly change the chemical composition of the tea leaf. If to obtain green tea, fermentation stops at oxidation to 3–12%, then black is fermented to 45–50%.

Upon reaching readiness, the tea leaves are dried and calibrated using sieves with different mesh sizes, dividing into large leaves, broken leaves, seedings and crumbs. The smallest caliber goes into the filter bags familiar to many. The quality of tea directly depends on the size of the tea leaf: the smaller the fragment, the lower grade it is considered. Crushed leaves produce a stronger, but less aromatic drink.

Composition and properties

Rhetorical debates about which tea – green or black – is the most delicious are meant to remain unanswered: they are different.

Fermentation introduces many differences into the chemical composition of black tea, which determine both its beneficial properties and taste.

Despite the beneficial properties of tea for digestion, when it is acidic, it is better to drink it with milk. Milk tea has a stronger diuretic effect and cleanses the kidneys. An ancient recipe for increasing lactation is also milk tea. In addition, milk weakens the effect of caffeine, so with increased nervous excitability, milk tea will come in handy more than ever. Due to its calcium content, milk drink is also beneficial for the skeletal system.

Recipes for all occasions

Even good black tea quickly becomes boring, and then its variations, the composition of which is enriched with essential oils or pieces of fruit, help out. True, cheap flavored tea is often a “chemical” drink flavored with artificial additives. The best is the one whose composition is devoid of flavors identical to natural ones. What drink to choose in a sea of clones? If purchased flavored tea is in doubt, you can experiment with additives yourself. Each of them will provide the drink with unique beneficial properties.

Rosehip: vitamins and slimness

Rosehip in tea is a recipe for health and longevity. This delicious energy drink will support you during periods of low energy. Rose hips are also valuable as a natural immunostimulant. It is recommended to add rose hips for colds, genitourinary disorders and various inflammatory processes. Rosehip is a record holder for vitamin C content; black tea with lemon or ginger can compete with it. With a large amount of carotene, rose hips help take care of vision. When consumed regularly, rose hips are also effective for weight loss: the chemical composition of its fruits activates metabolism. To prepare tea, it is better to grind the rosehip in a coffee grinder so that it can fully reveal its beneficial properties. The recipe requires adding rose hips to dry tea leaves at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. for two servings of tea.

Thyme: the answer to a hundred troubles

Thyme gives tea a unique aroma thanks to its esters. Staphylococcus aureus, which causes rhinitis, pneumonia, acne and boils, and meningitis, is sensitive to thymol, which is part of its composition. The expectorant effect of the good old “Pertussin” is based on the properties of thyme extract. Therefore, black tea with thyme is not only tasty, but also effective against many ailments. Its recipe is simple: a couple of its branches are enough for a cup of tea.

Ginger: during the cold season, for figure and libido

The chemical composition of ginger is valuable for its gingerol, which is responsible for its pungent taste. Thanks to it, black tea with ginger effectively relieves inflammation, disinfects the nasopharynx, softens cough and reduces temperature. A drink flavored with ginger is useful for mental work, improving cerebral circulation. Also, tea with ginger is a good help for those losing weight: gingerol activates fat-burning mechanisms. In addition, ginger has long been used to increase potency. For dietary tea with ginger, cut 1 cm of peeled root into it. But a particularly tasty drink - ginger milk tea - is more difficult to prepare: 2 tbsp. l. grated ginger, boil for a minute in 100 ml of water, add 300 ml of milk, 1/3 tsp. black tea, 1 tbsp. l. sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom and cook over low heat for 5 minutes. Which recipe to choose depends on your goals.

Cinnamon: A Flavorful Fat Burner

Tea with the popular spice, cinnamon, effectively lowers blood sugar levels. By analogy with ginger, a drink with cinnamon is effective against extra pounds. To prepare it, 0.5 tsp is enough. spices for a cup of black tea. Another recipe will be useful for those who honor English traditions. To make a delicious milk drink flavored with cinnamon, you can use a simple recipe: put 1 stick of spice into strong hot tea, poured 2/3 of the volume, and after 10 minutes, when the drink has steeped, add 1/3 of the milk. This cinnamon cocktail can be sweetened with honey. Due to the coumarin content, cinnamon should not be overused so as not to provoke a headache.

Jasmine: antidepressant and aphrodisiac

Rich and delicious tea, flavored with jasmine esters, is a powerful aphrodisiac.

In addition to its effect on potency, black tea with jasmine relieves fatigue, relieves symptoms of depression, increases immunity and improves metabolism. There is no point in making it yourself: factory-made tea flavored with jasmine is almost always natural. Milk tea with jasmine is especially popular, which is often based not on black, but on turquoise tea, which has an average fermentation between black and green.

The variety of recipes makes black tea a universal basis for creating tasty and healing drinks with a wide range of effects. This is the secret of its popularity: with ginger and fruit, milky, flavored with cinnamon, bergamot and jasmine - the diversity of black tea never gets boring, so everyone who is alien to British conservatism can start every morning with a new taste.

But perhaps it would be more correct to treat not the effect, but the cause? Then you will be interested to know what Victoria Dvornichenko recommends, and what modern means she suggests using...Read the article >>
