Materials used for packaging roses

Kraft paper is a durable and original packaging for roses.

Every time we are going to wrap a bouquet as a gift, we hardly think about the fact that this is essentially transit packaging. She is only needed to deliver flowers. The first thing the person who receives the bouquet sees is its shell. As they say: “You meet people by their clothes.” It is all the more important not to spoil the impression of beautiful roses by wearing an inappropriate “outfit” for them. When choosing what to wrap flowers in, you should think about the fact that the material should be strong enough, reliable and beautiful.

Oddly enough, there is a fashion for flower packaging, just like in any other type of design. Just five years ago, florists would have been surprised by the proposal to decorate roses in thick brown paper, similar to thin cardboard. And representatives of the older generation remember the times when they wrapped “Doctor’s” sausage in something similar. And today it is the last hit of the season, and it is called “Kraft Paper”.

Tip #1. Note! Kraft paper is a product of rough processing of cellulose without bleaching or other harmful additives. This is an environmentally friendly material that does not harm humans and nature.

Florists suggest using other natural and synthetic fabrics to decorate roses:

Jute Fiber, from natural raw materials for the manufacture of burlap, cord, ropes.

It bears the name of the plant of the same name from which the raw materials are obtained.

Thin material is used for decoration.

Roses in jute are an example of how seemingly incompatible things can be harmoniously combined.
Felt Polypropylene non-woven material of high strength and elasticity. Easily bends, drapes and takes any desired shape. Unlike paper, after crumpling, it returns to its original shape, without bends.

Available in any color range, there are plain canvases and ones that change shade under different lighting conditions.

Used for arranging bouquets and making decorative items in the form of jewelry.

Nonwoven

floral

Thin, synthetic, transparent fabric of different colors and shades.

These materials began to be used for packaging bouquets relatively recently. However, still popular:

  • transparencies,
  • mesh,
  • corrugated parchment,
  • rice paper,
  • organza.

Special attention should be paid to the finishing material. To fix the bouquet and secure the packaging you will need ribbons, cords, and braid. If there are no special floral garters, you can use any long scraps of elegant fabric.

Ideas for gift decoration of a bouquet of roses

Ribbons are not only garters, they are also used as decorative elements of a bouquet.

When starting to decorate, it is important to remember that packaging is an additional element of the flower arrangement. The shell should highlight the beauty of the roses, and not compete with them.

When composing a bouquet, it is important to adhere to the following recommendations:

  • The packaging covers the roses no more than 2/3 of their length. The exception is transparent cellophane; a completely closed cap - a spacesuit - can be constructed from it.
  • The color of the packaging material matches the color of the roses.
  • In the ratio of parts, the plant composition should exceed the decorative one.
  • You should not get carried away with additional elements; they need to be harmoniously introduced into a bouquet of roses.

Using the listed materials, you can easily and effectively wrap roses using simple methods:

  1. Packaging roses in craft paper, which is cut into a rectangle.

Tip #2. In order for the roses to be placed in a loose package, it is necessary to provide sufficient length. It is selected based on the width of the bouquet. The value is multiplied by 2, and another 10 - 15 cm is added for allowances.

Lay out the rectangle cut from the roll on the table lengthwise. The bouquet is placed in the middle, so that the flower heads are above the paper. The lower part of the leaf is wrapped around the stems and gently crushed, forming folds.

The paper is secured with tape. The upper part of the folded sheet is fixed with a stapler.

Any packaging material can be used in this way.

  1. Decorating a bouquet using separate pieces of packaging material.

Any canvas is suitable for this. After unwinding from the roll, the desired length is cut into equal squares. You will need at least four of them.

The first piece is laid diagonally on the table, in the shape of a diamond. A bouquet is placed on it. The material is wrapped around the stem and secured with tape.

This is done with all squares. The actions are repeated until the last fragment is attached. The finished bouquet is decorated with a ribbon, tied into a bow.

  1. Roses in a gift bag.

Simple, quick and original packaging can be done like this:

  • Choose a bag of the right size in which the roses will fit freely.

Tip #3. It is better if the packaging is plain and matches the color of the roses.

  • The bottom of the bag is cut off.
  • Place a bouquet in it (like in a pipe). At the bottom, the packaging is slightly crushed, forming folds around the stems.
  • Secure with tape or cord.
  • Decorate with a bow or other decor.

This bouquet can be carried by the handles of the bag.

  1. Roses in a box.

This packaging is well suited for small roses.

For the bouquet you will need:

  • Roses,
  • Box or other container.
  • Polyethylene film,
  • Bioflor – a porous sponge-like material impregnated with plant nutrients.
  • Ribbon,
  • Decor.

The bouquet is made up like this

  • The box is lined with film.
  • Cut the bioflor to the size of the box and soak it.
  • Wet bioflora is placed in a container.
  • A bouquet of roses is formed by burying the stems in the bioflora.
  • Gaps between colors are filled with decorative material, such as cord or ribbons. They are laid in random order, fixed around the stems.
  • The finished bouquet is decorated with decor, for example, figurines of birds, butterflies, and animals. You can purchase ready-made parts or cut them out of paper.
  1. Using tape.

If there is no packaging material, roses can be decorated by wrapping them with cord, braid, ribbon, organza or a piece of elegant fabric.

Question No. 1.

We have beautiful roses in our garden, including hybrid tea ones. There is no need to spend money on bouquets as a gift. From what available material can you construct original packaging?

Spunbond is often used in garden care. This material is close to floral non-woven fabric. White color, don't let it bother you. This “color” will definitely suit roses of any color. It can be used to make packaging of any shape and size, because it is thin, elastic, but at the same time quite durable. It is suitable not only for decoration, but also for transportation.

Question No. 2.

What garden roses can be used for bouquets?

In any case, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the individual characteristics of the plant. If there is no information, you can test the rose in advance by placing one flower in water.

One of the simplest and most affordable ways to pack roses is to use craft paper.

Step-by-step instruction

Fold the bouquet diagonally and secure the stems with tape.

The sequence of decorating a bouquet using ribbon: 1 – Fold a bouquet of roses, placing the stems at a spiral angle. The position of each subsequent flower can be fixed using a narrow cord or braid. 2 - 3 - When installation is completed, the fixation points are decorated with a wide ribbon. 4 – Use pruning shears to trim the stems.

Cut a rectangle from the roll.

Cut a strip 20 cm wide from the rectangle. Fold it in two diagonally.

From the fold side, crumple the craft paper, collecting it into a bundle.

You can give flowers to your beloved woman with or without reason. The very fact of a gift already gives pleasure to the weaker sex. You can order a beautiful bouquet of roses on our blog. The gift can be supplemented with a box of chocolates, a soft toy, balloons.

Self packing

You can entrust the packaging of flowers to specialists, and, if you want to show your personal creativity, you can pack the gift yourself. First of all, they determine the number and color of plants in the bouquet. The composition may include single- or mixed-variety flowers. It can be of the following types:

  • Bouquet using floral foam. It can be given any shape by showing your imagination. A heart-shaped composition looks romantic;
  • In a classic composition, plants are arranged side by side (opposite each other) or in the form of a spiral.

Floral foam as a decorative element

For a bouquet decorated with floral foam, you need roses up to 10 cm long. The thorns and leaves at the bottom of the stem are removed from the flowers. The foam must be thoroughly wetted. Plants are installed close to each other at the base. Cut rose leaves are attached to the side of the base. The composition can be supplemented with ribbons, beads imitating pearls, and decorative butterflies.

Traditional composition

When there are few plants included in the composition, they are located next to each other. The components of the composition are placed at the same level and the stems are tied with ribbon. Film, floral mesh or craft paper are also used as decoration.

To do this, on the table or in your hands, all components of the bouquet are placed on the same level. The stems are then tied with ribbon. If desired, the bouquet can be wrapped in film, decorative mesh or paper.

The spiral option is used when there are a large number of plants. The basis of such a composition is one rose, which is held in the left hand. The rest are placed using the spiral method, moving them down. I place the flower stems at an angle, so they do not interfere with each other and there is some space between them.

Florists share secrets

When designing a composition, it’s a good idea to find out the tastes and preferences of the person to whom the gift is intended. Then the bouquet will not only look original, but will also bring pleasure to the recipient. In addition, there are a number of postulates that professional florists adhere to:

  • It is considered bad form to give bouquets completely wrapped in cellophane or foil. Avoid wrapping flowers in crepe paper or polyester ribbons, which are out of fashion.
  • It is desirable that the composition does not lose its naturalness. Corrugated paper, floral mesh, and jute rope are used as wrapping.
  • The wrapper should help reveal the beauty of the plants, but not attract unnecessary attention to itself.
  • The same rule applies to other decorative elements. They should complement the composition, but not stand out from its background.
  • Plants should be cut early in the morning and stored in a cool room. A bouquet of such flowers can last a long time.
  • It must be remembered that not all flowers combine well with each other.

The holidays are a great time to decorate your home or workplace with festive flowers. Today we will learn how to do this using cut roses, which can sparkle with all the colors of the rainbow.

Roses can be painted in any color or combination of several colors to suit your taste. They will come in handy when creating holiday bouquets, either as an independent design element or in combination with other cut plants or dried flowers. Or maybe you want to decorate your gift with them.

In addition to different colors, flowers can be given radiance and shine to emphasize the festive mood and your sincere feelings.

What do we need?

In order to make multi-colored flowers, we will need:

  • White Rose;
  • stationery knife;
  • food colorings;
  • glass glasses (from 1 to 4 pieces or more - depending on the number of dyes you will use);
  • wire;
  • plastic spoon;
  • green tape for florists (tape tape);
  • dry glitter for needlework;
  • glue.

Sequence of work on coloring roses

We chose white roses for coloring, since they can be given any color. To begin, shorten the stems of the flowers to 20-25 cm and completely remove the leaves from them.

Fill the glasses with clean water and add a few drops of food coloring. In each glass, dilute different dyes and stir with a plastic spoon.

Keep in mind that food coloring itself is almost opaque. Blue and green dyes color water very quickly, while red and yellow dyes use a little more.

Using a utility knife, we make cuts along the stems approximately 10-12 cm long so that the stem is cut into 2 parts, starting from the end of the stem. It is good to do this on a thick base so as not to damage your table. Be careful with the knife!

Now we cut the stems again so that they are cut into 4 parts, as shown in the photo. However, if your roses have very thin stems, cutting them in half is sufficient.

At this stage of work we will need 4 glasses with 4 different dyes. At one time we can paint roses in 4 colors if we simultaneously place parts of the cut stems in different dyes, 1/4 of the stem in each glass.

Tie the flowers into bundles with thin wire to give them a more rigid vertical position. Roses with thin stems, which have been cut into 2 parts, are placed in 2 different glasses, one half of the stem in each. In many cases, it is enough to paint flowers in only two colors.

It takes 24 to 48 hours for the flowers to fully color. All this time you will have the opportunity to observe how interesting their color changes. Some dyes completely color the petals, while others only tint the tips.

Once the flowers are colored, take green florist tape and tie the quarters and halves of the previously cut stems together.

After painting, the roses will have an original and decorative appearance. But in order to give them a festive chic and shine, they can be decorated with sparkles, which are sold in handicraft departments.

Pour 1 part PVA glue and 4 parts water into a disposable plastic plate so that the consistency of the solution resembles milk. Then we immerse the tips of each rose in this glue solution. To remove excess glue from the rose, blot it with a paper napkin.

Place a small amount of dry glitter on a paper plate. Dip the edges of the petals, which we previously coated with glue, in glitter. For even coverage, rotate the flower so that the glitter covers all the edges of the petals.

Roses for every taste

Bright orange flowers can be obtained by dipping one part of the stem in red and the other in yellow, and purple flowers in red and blue. Roses of this color are suitable for cheerful people who love rich colors and appreciate original gifts.

Orange and purple roses go well with gold dusting.

Green-red flowers can be obtained by dipping stem halves in red and green dye. These roses can be given to energetic people who love contrasting color combinations.

What do you think about making roses even more festive and “sprinkling” them with green and red sparkles?

Blue food dyes do not color roses well. Therefore, in order to dye the petals blue as effectively as possible, it is necessary to immerse the whole stem in a glass of dye, without cutting it into pieces.

Roses painted blue will undoubtedly “make friends” with sparkles of blue and silver. Such flowers will appeal to romantic and modest people with refined taste who prefer the classics.

Unusual black and white roses can be obtained by dipping one half of the stem into a solution with black dye, and the other half into ordinary water.

Such flowers can be complemented with a small amount of silver sparkles. Black and white roses will definitely appeal to extravagant people who love unusual gifts.

So, we learned how to color roses and prepare gifts for every taste. Experiment and enjoy the results! After all, a good mood has a good effect on health and luck in life.
